StormWater & Drainage Update

The Town of Clarksville continues to evaluate and assess the needs of the community in regards to stormwater run off and also damage caused by the recent flooding.

Current Major Project Status:

  • Maple Court/Beechwood Manor
The project to install the new Stormwater Pump Station and additional drainage for the Beechwood Manor/Maple Court is scheduled to become operational by the end of January with final project completion in early March. The work along the old CSX line and Maple Court is scheduled to be completed by Thanksgiving, which only leaves the work at the Pump Station to be completed. There have been a few delays on the Pump Station due to some permitting and property acquisition issues.

  • Cane Run Pump Station
The Town continues to press the Clarksville/Jeffersonville Flood Control Commission to upgrade the Flood Control Pump Station at Cane Run. At this time, the Jeffersonville city council has refused to pass the bond ordinance and until this occurs the improvements cannot happen. The Town continues trying to work with the City, but so far they seem to have no interest in pursuing the project. The Town continues to search for other options to alleviate the flooding along Cane Run in case the impasse cannot be worked through.

  • Evergreen Drive Improvements
The contract for the extension of the existing storm sewer and addition of new catch basins along Evergreen has been awarded to Excel Excavating. The work is scheduled to begin the first week of November and be complete by the end of the year. This project is to mitigate the street flooding along Evergreen Drive at various intersections.

  • Ray Lawrence Park Drainage Improvements
The Ray Lawrence Project has been delayed due to Wetlands and property acquisition issues. Things are finally on track with the project expected to go to bid in mid-November and construction work to be started by the end of the year.

With the completion of the above projects, the Town will have invested over $10.6 million in drainage improvements over the past 5 years.
